Ecumenism and Community Involvement

Through our involvment in the community, our parishioners take on the spirit of kindness and charity that our patron St. Nicholas is known for. As members of the Millvale Ministerium we join with our brothers and sisters of other local churches, both Catholic and non-Catholic, in services of praise and thanksgiving such as the annual Millvale Days celebration held in September.

Members of the parish are also involved in the North Hills Community Outreach, an interfaith nonprofit organization that addresses the spiritual, emotional, physical and material needs of people in crisis, hardship and poverty. NHCO provides information and education, makes referrals and facilitates access to resources to bring immediate help in a manner designed to preserve the dignity of individuals and families and to demonstrate the love of God. You can contact them on http://www.nhco.org.

Through their membership in the Knights of Columbus, the men of St. Nicholas are committed to making their community a better place. As Knights they are involved with our community; through support of the Church and Pro-Life matters, programs of evangelization and Catholic education, civic involvement and aid to those in need. The KofC has been called "the strong right arm of the Church," and has been praised by popes, presidents and other world leaders. If you are a man age 18 or over and are looking for the "Experience of a Lifetime", visit the North Hills Council website on http://kofc4029nh.org for more information.
